.KEY MESSAGES...
Updated at 1032 PM CST Fri Dec 5 2025

 - Areas of dense fog are likely and freezing fog is possible
tonight into Saturday morning, mainly along and east of the
I-35/I-44 corridors. A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect from 12
   AM to 10 AM Saturday.

 - Cooler day on Sunday behind a front before dry and seasonable
   weather into next week.

.NEAR TERM...
(Rest of today and tonight)
Issued at 1240 PM CST Fri Dec 5 2025

As localized areas of fog continue to dissipate, a generally
pleasant early-December weather day is developing across Oklahoma
and western-north Texas. Temperatures this afternoon will run
several degrees warmer (upper-40s to 50s) compared to yesterday. A
persistent bank of low clouds across western Oklahoma has
recently begun to dissipate, with locally coolest afternoon
conditions expected from ~Hollis to Clinton to Medford.

By tonight, widespread areas of dense fog (and at least localized
freezing fog) are expected to emerge along and east of the
Interstates 35 & 44 corridor. In addition to reduced visibility
(1/4-mile or lower) in fog, slick spots may develop on area
roadways where dense fog is juxtaposed with temperatures at or
below freezing.

The overall spatial extent of freezing fog concern remains somewhat
uncertain, as temperatures will likely remain steady or even warm a
degree or two once dense fog develops. The area of greatest concern
for a potentially slippery Saturday morning drive looks to focus
near the Interstate 44 corridor. This spatiotemporal uncertainty
in temperatures precludes a Freezing Fog Advisory at this time,
though interests with early morning travel plans should check in
before heading out the door.

.SHORT TERM...
(Saturday through Sunday night)
Issued at 1240 PM CST Fri Dec 5 2025

Some of the more "pessimistic" guidance suggests areas of fog may
remain entrenched across far southern and southeast Oklahoma into
the early afternoon on Saturday. As a result, locally coolest
conditions, with some areas remaining in the mid to upper-40s, are
likely here. To the north and west of the Interstate 44 corridor,
lee cyclogenesis across the Southern High Plains will foster
warmer and windier conditions. Daytime temperatures here are
likely to climb towards and just above 60 degrees with a gusty
southwest wind and increasing high cloud coverage.

An embedded upper system (and associated surface reflection/front)
will continue to advance across the Central Plains into Sunday
morning. A pronounced (dry) frontal passage is expected during the
early hours on Sunday fostering a cooler day in its wake,
especially north of Interstate 40. A few locations near the
Oklahoma/Kansas border may struggle to warm into the 40s by the
afternoon.

.LONG TERM...
(Monday through Thursday)
Issued at 1251 AM CST Fri Dec 5 2025

The remainder of next week will feature northwesterly flow aloft
with several embedded shortwaves and a few fronts. No
precipitation is expected in the extended and overall temperatures
will remain fairly mild with most of the fronts with a potential
for temperatures to return to near or above-normal through much of
midweek. There is a stronger front on the horizon towards the end
of the week, which could bring another batch of cold wintry air.

.AVIATION...
(06Z TAFS)
Issued at 1032 PM CST Fri Dec 5 2025

Some areas of fog have begun to develop across the south and
southeast but the models are delaying the development of the dense
fog and associated LIFR conditions until after 08Z-09Z and then
toward the I-44 corridor until around sunrise. The moist layer is
also very shallow and this may lead to a quick dissipation of the
fog in the mid/late morning time frame, with VFR conditions
returning. Winds will be light overnight and through the morning
before increasing with deeper mixing by afternoon, especially
across the west. A cold front will northwest Oklahoma late in the
forecast.
